Cabin crew of the German airline Lufthansa launched a strike from midnight, with hundreds of flights canceled across Germany during the Easter holidays.

Around 20,000 flight attendants were called to stop work. This is the third major strike in 2026 at Germany's largest airline, following two rounds of pilot strikes.

At Frankfurt Airport - Lufthansa's main hub - around 75 percent of the planned 350 departures were canceled. A similar situation prevails at airports in Munich, Leipzig, Berlin and Stuttgart.

Although officially only flights within Germany are affected, aircraft currently located at foreign destinations mean that many return flights during the Easter period have also been canceled.

The UFO union announced that compensation negotiations with Lufthansa and its subsidiary CityLine have stalled, and management refuses to discuss social plans. Lufthansa advises passengers to check flight status before traveling.
