Parliament is set to vote tomorrow on the proposal for Nenad Saveski to be elected as the new state public prosecutor. At least 61 parliamentary votes are needed for the election.
Saveski, currently a judge at the Basic Criminal Court in Skopje, was nominated by the Government on March 10. He was born in 1976, lives in Gostivar, and holds a master's degree in legal sciences with a focus on criminal law from the "Justinian I" Faculty of Law at UKIM.
Since 2016, he has served as a judge in the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption. He previously worked as a public prosecutor from 2009 to 2016, and as a legal associate in Gostivar from 2004 to 2009.
The Council of Public Prosecutors gave a positive opinion on four candidates: Anita Topolova-Isajlovska, Lenche Ristovska, Saveski, and Lidija Rajchevikj. Vladimir Panchevski was deemed unsuitable due to insufficient work experience.
Saveski's candidacy follows the resignation of former prosecutor Ljupcho Kocevski in December. Acting prosecutor Topolova-Isajlovska cannot remain in the position for longer than six months.
