Peskov: The world desperately seeks Russian oil - US temporarily lifted sanctions to calm prices

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that global energy markets have a "desperate need" for Russian oil due to the ongoing Middle East crisis. "International energy infrastructure cannot afford to lose significant quantities of Russian oil," Peskov said.

Russia is seeking to position itself as an indispensable supplier at a moment when the Strait of Hormuz is practically blockaded and oil prices temporarily jumped to 120 dollars per barrel. Geopolitical risks are causing serious disruptions in supplies from Middle Eastern countries.

The United States temporarily suspended sanctions on Russian oil at sea, allowing its distribution to customers worldwide to control energy prices. This is a significant departure from Washington's previous sanctions policy toward Moscow.

Analysts warn that Russia's tactic of "pipeline diplomacy" - offering oil at a critical moment - remains one of Moscow's key strategic tools in its relations with Western countries.
