The Serbian Air Force quietly equipped its MiG-29SM+ fighter jets with Chinese quasi-ballistic CM-400AKG missiles, a weapon with a range exceeding 250 kilometers that no other country's armed forces in the region possess. Images of the missiles mounted on combat aircraft have appeared publicly.
President Aleksandar Vučić previously stated: "The people cannot even imagine what we have and what we are acquiring." General Milan Mojsilović in February mentioned that the air component possesses assets with similar maximum range and lethal potential.
The CM-400AKG missile is produced by a Chinese manufacturer, first publicly displayed in 2013. It is 5.1 meters long, 400mm caliber, 910 kilograms, with a terminal phase speed of up to Mach 4.5. It exists in two warhead versions: 150kg blast-fragmentation or 200kg penetrating. The only confirmed foreign user is Pakistan, which integrated them on JF-17 Thunder fighters.
The acquisition positions the Serbian Air Force as the first regional military to possess air-launched weapons with such speed and range.
