Vucic: Snap Parliamentary Elections Will Not Depend on Local Election Results

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated that a possible call for snap parliamentary elections "should not depend at all" on the results of local elections scheduled for March 29 in ten municipalities. Competent institutions will decide on calling snap elections, taking care of Serbia's interests, not any party's.

Vucic left open the possibility that the 2027 presidential and parliamentary elections could be held separately. He predicted victory for the Serbian Progressive Party in all ten municipalities.

The president announced that next year SNS will choose a presidential candidate to guarantee Serbia's independence. Regarding European integration, he stated Serbia would accept EU membership "in multiple steps", with priority on borders, security and the common market.

Vucic accused Croatia of being "the main logistical support for undermining Serbia" over the past year and a half, emphasizing Belgrade maintains good relations with NATO but will not join the alliance.
