Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed that Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, was eliminated in an overnight airstrike.

"Larijani and the Basij commander were eliminated last night and joined the head of the destruction program Khamenei and all eliminated members of the axis of evil in the depths of hell," Katz stated.

Following the deaths of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Basij Commander Gholamreza Soleimani, Larijani had become Iran's de facto leader, according to Israeli defense sources.

The Israeli Defense Forces reported successfully targeting senior Iranian officials and commanders during night operations. Investigations continue into the full extent of damage from the strikes.
