A drone struck the British military base at Akrotiri on Cyprus, causing minor damage. Fighter jets intercepted at least two more drones heading toward the base. Paphos airport was temporarily closed due to security measures, and one village near the base was preventively evacuated.

Authorities activated sirens during the night, and residents received instructions on shelter locations via a mobile app and SMS alert system. The Cypriot president stressed that "the country does not participate in any way and has no intention of being part of any military operation".

The government is urging citizens to prepare emergency kits with water, food, medicine, warm clothing, torches and batteries. A monastery in the Erimi region has opened its shelter for evacuated residents.

France has responded by dispatching a warship to Cyprus to reinforce air defences against drones. Life in Limassol, the second-largest city just 20 kilometres from the base, continues normally without mass panic.

The incident occurred in the context of the regional escalation linked to broader military operations, with Cyprus in a delicate position due to the presence of British military bases on its territory.
