Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that newly selected supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei is "in good health" and "fully controls the situation."

Khamenei has not appeared publicly since his selection as supreme leader on March 8. Iranian state media broadcast his first public address on March 12, but it was read by a presenter rather than delivered directly by Khamenei.

Minister Araghchi also expressed Iran's support for "regional initiatives leading to a just end to the war" and noted that the Strait of Hormuz remains "open to all except American vessels and allies."

According to the diplomat, there are currently no specific peace initiatives on the negotiating table, further complicating the situation in the Middle East.
