NATO and Serbia to Hold Joint Military Exercise in May

NATO's Joint Command from Naples confirmed a joint military exercise with the Serbian Armed Forces, planned for May at the Borovac location. The exercise is being organized at Belgrade's invitation and is consistent with Serbia's policy of military neutrality.

The exercise is part of Serbia-NATO cooperation under the Partnership for Peace program, with NATO respecting Belgrade's officially declared positions on non-accession to the Alliance. The Serbian Armed Forces regularly participate in similar joint exercises with NATO, both domestically and abroad.

Joint military activities do not signify a change in Serbia's official status outside of NATO. Belgrade maintains military neutrality and a partnership, rather than membership, relationship with the Alliance, although cooperation in training and exercises has been active for some time.
