Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski struck a confident tone in his latest assessment of Ukraine's strategic position, declaring that his country now holds significant advantages in any broader negotiation or conflict scenario. He credited Ukraine's expanded domestic defense manufacturing capacity and the professionalism of its military personnel as the foundations of that position.
Zelenski revealed that the United States had approached Ukraine directly for assistance, bypassing France and Germany — a detail he presented as evidence of Kyiv's growing strategic weight. He also stated that Washington had declined an offer of a British aircraft carrier, though he did not elaborate on the context of that decision. "We had these assets a year ago," Zelenski said. "We just didn't reveal them."
The Ukrainian president expressed measured concern about Europe's overall preparedness for a broader global conflict, suggesting that most continental states remain insufficiently equipped for the pace and scale of modern warfare. He singled out the Nordic nations as exceptions, praising their technological readiness. Zelenski called for rapid allied support and swift military action, arguing that only decisive engagement could produce a just and durable peace rather than a prolonged frozen conflict.
