House and techno with rhythms from the Arab world: Acid Arab return to Bulgaria on November 7, at the Sofia club Malkata Tekila. The French electronic outfit brings its new album "Resonance", and the party starts at 22:30.
Acid Arab are a French-Algerian collective that has spent more than a decade fusing house and techno with the music of the Middle East and North Africa: dabke, raï and chaabi. They have three studio albums behind them, "Musique de France" from 2016, "Jdid" from 2019 and "Trois" from 2023, featuring guests such as Rachid Taha, Sofiane Saidi and Les Filles de Illighadad. The organisers bill them as a duo bringing the crowd back after their previous show in Bulgaria.
This is not a concert for standing around with your arms crossed. Acid Arab build their set on synth lines and Oriental melodies that slide into trance, so Malkata Tekila will spend the night on the dancefloor. The event is organised by Fest Team and the FillGood festival, the same team that brought The Cure and Gorillaz to Plovdiv.
festteam.bg does not list a ticket price; sales go through the organiser's partner. Oriental rhythms, reworked in Paris and brought back to a Balkan dancefloor: whether that is exotica or something that has long been ours, let the dancefloor decide.
