Planet L98-59d, located 35 light-years from Earth and 1.6 times its size, has been identified as an entirely new category of planet.

Initially, scientists believed this planet had a water ocean. However, new research reveals it is actually in a "mushy molten state", with a consistency similar to molasses.

The surface temperature reaches 1,900 degrees Celsius, and the entire planet is covered by a magma ocean with waves of molten rock. Its atmosphere is composed of hydrogen sulfide.

The James Webb Space Telescope revealed its true composition, showing that the magma ocean extends thousands of kilometers deep.

The findings were published in the journal Nature Astronomy.
