Xiaomi continues to assert its position in the premium market. At the MWC 2026 conference in Barcelona, the company officially unveiled the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra for the European market, while simultaneously releasing details about the 17T series, which will launch four months earlier than the usual timeline.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is described as "the thinnest and lightest Ultra model to date," while the Xiaomi 17 targets users seeking compact flagship performance. Both devices are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, feature IP68 water and dust resistance, and carry cameras developed in collaboration with Leica. European retail prices are: 17 Ultra at €1,499 and 17 at €1,099.
At the same time, Leica Camera AG and Xiaomi jointly unveiled the exclusive Leica Leitzphone – a device representing the deepest collaboration between Leica and a smartphone manufacturer to date. The phone features a special "Leica Camera Ring" – a physical ring around the camera module – and an interface tailored for photographic excellence. The design draws inspiration from the legendary Leica M series.
As for the Xiaomi 17T series, sources from China suggest a May launch instead of the traditional September window. The standard 17T will use a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 processor, while the Pro version gets a top-tier Dimensity 9500 chip. The standard model's battery grows to 6,500 mAh, and the Pro version includes a periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom.
With these launches, Xiaomi is directly challenging Apple and Samsung in the premium segment, offering competitive specifications at more affordable prices.
