Bulgarian metal has a new word in its dictionary, and the musicians coined it themselves: jumbish. Hellbound, the band that calls itself the pioneer of jumbish metal, brings the Into the Jumbish tour to Plovdiv on October 9 together with Death Row, at the club Under City. Doors open at 20:00, with the first chords promised for 20:30.
Hellbound did not come out of nowhere. The band took third place at Metal Battle Bulgaria, the Bulgarian qualifier that picks a band for the young bands contest at Germany's Wacken Open Air festival. In March 2026 they were already on the road with the MOY Bus Tour, presenting their new EP at Sofia's Mixtape 5 alongside Euphobia and Smog. They describe their own sound as aggressive and modern, and the stage is their strongest suit. Death Row are a Bulgarian groove metal band built on heavy riffs and a hard rhythm.
The tour poster tells you everything about the tone of the night: a prisoner in an orange jumpsuit with a loaded barbell on his shoulder, a basketball under his boot and "Jumbish foreva" scrawled on the wall. Gym, street and metal in one, with no pretending to be anything more serious than that. The tour opened in Sofia on October 4 at Live & Loud, heads straight on from Plovdiv to Stara Zagora on October 10, and reaches Burgas, Yambol and Varna toward the end of the month.
A ticket for Plovdiv costs 10 euros, or about 616 denars, on sale through bilet.bg. A young band that invented its own genre and is immediately taking it through six Bulgarian cities: confident, without waiting for someone else to name their sound. For anyone in Macedonia thinking about a weekend in Plovdiv, this is a cheap and loud reason for the trip.
