A 30-year-old Serbian citizen was driving 188 kilometers per hour on the Kumanovo-Skopje highway - on a stretch where the limit is 100. The police didn't hesitate: they seized his Porsche with Serbian plates.
The incident happened on June 18 at around 6:20 p.m., near the "Rafinerija" channel. The driver was flying 88 kilometers over the limit, was intercepted by a Mobile Traffic Safety Unit crew, the vehicle was seized, and he was held at a police station for further proceedings.
The Interior Ministry reminds that speeding is among the most common causes of traffic accidents with severe consequences, including fatalities. And that is no empty phrase - anyone who drives on Macedonian highways knows how often someone overtakes as if the road were their private property.
The question that remains is whether seizing expensive cars will be the rule or the exception. When a penalty truly hurts - and a seized Porsche hurts - the message lands faster than any campaign. It remains to be seen whether the same strictness applies to everyone, or only when the vehicle is expensive enough to become a headline.
