Tomorrow, June 20, Skopje will hold its Pride Parade - Skopje Pride 2026, under the slogan "Let Everyone Know." The event is dedicated to human rights, equality and a dignified life for the LGBTIQ+ community in the country.

The gathering is set for 6 p.m. at the Fountain in the City Park, with the march setting off at 7 p.m. The organizers stress that the parade is not entertainment but a protest march - a message of visibility, solidarity and resistance to discrimination. This year's march, they say, takes place amid heightened social and political challenges.

The demands are simple and as old as the march itself: greater protection of human rights, equal treatment and a society without discrimination. That is not a radical platform - it is what every citizen should already have guaranteed on paper.

Every year, Pride is a litmus test of how much a society truly honors its own declarations of freedom. It is easy to write "equality" into a constitution; it is harder to hold the gaze of people demanding that the very same equality apply to them too.
