Ten Injured in Crash Near Sveti Nikole, Two Airlifted to Skopje

On Friday night, on the Kumanovo - Sveti Nikole regional road, a minibus and a truck collided. The result: ten injured, two in serious condition, rushed to Skopje.

A rescue crew from the Sveti Nikole fire service arrived around 9pm and pulled the injured from the vehicles. Eight people were admitted to the surgical ward of the hospital in Stip, while two - with more severe injuries - were urgently transported to the "Mother Teresa" Clinical Centre in Skopje.

The Interior Ministry was due to release details over the course of the day. The causes of the crash have not yet been officially established.

The Kumanovo - Sveti Nikole road is one of those problematic regional routes - narrow, with no central divider in several stretches. This isn't the first serious crash on this section, and it probably won't be the last until the road infrastructure is upgraded.
