Azymuth, the Brazilian trio that invented its own "samba doido", plays Malkata Tekila in Sofia on October 3, 2026. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the club's capacity is limited.

The group was founded in 1973 in Rio de Janeiro and fused samba, jazz and funk into a sound that is still sampled across hip-hop and club music today. Their biggest hit, "Jazz Carnival" from the album "Light as a Feather", reached number 19 on the UK chart in January 1980.

The line-up isn't the original one. Bassist Alex Malheiros is the only surviving member of the original trio, since drummer Ivan "Mamão" Conti died in April 2023 at 76. Today he plays with keyboardist Dudu Viana and drummer Renato "Massa" Calmon. In 2025, for the 50th anniversary, they released a new album, "Marca Passo". A band that after five decades still releases new music, rather than just spinning the old hits, is rarely seen in a small club.

Tickets are sold only on bilet.bg, from 20 to 30 euros, roughly 1,230 to 1,850 denars. The club's free-entry cards are not valid for this night, and the event is 18+.
