Night Stop in Saraj: Two Men Detained With Hunting Rifles and 22 Rounds in Their Vehicle

A night stop on a road between two villages in Saraj ended with two detentions and seized weapons. Around 23:45, on the road between Sisevo and Grcec, officers from the Intervention Unit of the Skopje police stopped a "Hyundai" with Skopje plates and, on inspection, found something hard to justify as innocent.

In the vehicle, according to the Interior Ministry statement, two "Baikal" hunting rifles of 12-millimeter caliber, 22 hunting rounds, and other items were found and confiscated. Two men from the Skopje area were detained - N.S. (54) from Saraj and R.S. (58) from Krusopek, held at the police station pending completion of documentation and the filing of appropriate charges.

The police are not yet revealing why the two were carrying hunting rifles and ammunition through the night in a car. And here is the question every citizen asks themselves: what were they doing with ready weapons on the move, in the late hours, on a road between villages? There may be a harmless explanation - but weapons in a vehicle at night are not an everyday sight.

The investigation will clear up the case, and until then the fact remains: yet another night stop showed that what shouldn't be moving on the roads is moving anyway. The question is how many such vehicles pass the checkpoints that aren't there.
