Romeo Beckham Guilty of Driving With a Phone in Hand: a Fine That's Pocket Change for Him

A surname opens many doors, but it doesn't get around traffic rules. Romeo Beckham, the 23-year-old son of David and Victoria Beckham, has been found guilty of driving without proper control of the vehicle - after police spotted him looking at his mobile phone while driving through London.

The incident happened in September 2025 in Westminster. An officer noticed Romeo with his head down, scrolling with two thumbs across the screen of a phone held close to the wheel of his Porsche. The court documents also mention an unknown woman in the passenger seat, holding a dog without a leash - a detail that adds absurdity to the scene.

On June 17, the Westminster court handed him a fine of 440 pounds (about 508 euros), three penalty points and additional court costs - around 746 pounds in total (about 862 euros). A sum that would be painful for an average driver, but for a family like the Beckhams is less than pocket change. And here's the point that applies everywhere, not just in London: a fine meant to deter only deters those who have nothing to pay with anyway.

The family history adds context. Brother Cruz lost his license in September 2025 on a second speeding offense, and father David was suspended for six months in 2019 - also because of a phone while driving. Three generations, the same mistake, the same reflex to look at the screen instead of the road. Wealth evidently buys many things, but not the habit of putting down the phone while your hands are on the wheel.
