Skopje's Water Is Safe: Vodovod Collected 189 Samples - All Clear

The Sanitary Control Division of PE "Vodovod i kanalizacija" - Skopje has completed its regular monitoring for the period 20-24 April 2026. Result: the water is safe to drink. A total of 189 physical-chemical samples and 189 microbiological samples were collected from 45 measurement points across the city. All tests are in compliance with the Drinking Water Safety and Quality Regulations.

This would not normally be news - except in context: in recent months, questions about Skopje's water quality have entered public discourse, and some residents have started buying bottled water for everyday use. The official report is a direct response to those concerns.

Will citizens believe it? That is a separate question. Trust in public utilities in the Balkans is not built with a single statement - regardless of its accuracy. But the data exists, is public, and is regularly measured. That is at least a starting point.
