Icelandic electronic collective GusGus is coming to Skopje. On September 15, in the Dancing Hall of the MKC, one of the biggest names in European electronica plays live - a rarity for the Skopje scene, which gets acts like this only a trickle at a time.
GusGus isn't your average DJ act. The collective formed in Reykjavik in 1995, first as a film and acting crew, but it earned its global fame through music - after signing to the cult label 4AD, the album „Polydistortion" (1997) made them one of the most sought-after electronic acts out of Iceland, with sold-out concerts around the world. Across nearly three decades they moved through techno, trip-hop, house, and pop, always with a sound that can't be mistaken for anyone else's. The current lineup includes founders Biggi Veira and Daníel Ágúst, alongside Icelandic indie musician Högni Egilsson.
The choice of the MKC makes sense - the Dancing Hall is exactly where Skopje's alternative and electronic crowd gathers, a space for a concert, not a stadium. For a live GusGus performance, with their blend of electronics and vocals, the closed club format is precisely what suits the sound.
Tickets cost 1,500 denars and are available through mktickets.mk. The concert takes place on September 15 in the Dancing Hall of the MKC in Skopje.
