The Korean Habit That Changes Your Day: Wake Up Without Rushing

Most of us start the day in a race - alarm, phone, the first sip of coffee on the move, and we are already late. A Korean habit that is slowly spreading around the world proposes something almost rebellious: to wake up without rushing.

The idea is simple, but not easy. Instead of throwing ourselves straight into our obligations, the first few minutes of the day are devoted to calm. „You feel calmer and more connected to yourself," explains wellbeing expert Maria Plaza. This is not about a half-hour luxury - but about changing the tone with which we enter the day.

The concrete steps are familiar, but we rarely do them all together: a glass of warm water or herbal tea right after waking; a few minutes of gentle stretching or soft yoga; briefly writing down something we are grateful for; and planning the day calmly, without pressure. Even the skincare routine here is not cosmetics, but a moment of presence - a way to be in the now instead of already racing toward the next task.

A sceptic would say this is plain self-help dressed in exotic clothing - and in part they are right. But the point is not that it is „Korean," but that it reminds us of something we have forgotten: that the way we start the day colours everything that follows. You do not have to get up earlier for this. It is enough not to spend the first ten minutes watching other people's lives on a screen.
