Kyiv rapper 044 Rose performs at Diamond club in Sunny Beach on October 16, starting at 23:00. While the summer season on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast closed long ago, the club is stretching it out with a guest whose name on the Eastern European rap scene is tied to one fact: in 2017 he was the one opening for Lil Peep.
Behind the alias is Vlad, born on April 30, 1993 in Kyiv. The number 044 is his home city's telephone dialling code, and he runs his own label under the same name. He recorded his first lyrics on his phone's voice recorder and sent them to studios across Ukraine, and the move to Odesa brought him a six-track album in English, recorded with the Frozen Gang Beatz collective. Then came "High School Rock Star" in 2016 and "Lyublyu" in 2017, and his catalogue also includes a joint track, "Mama Mia", with Russian rapper Boulevard Depo. The organiser says 044 Rose has been on the scene for twelve years and counts more than a hundred million streams.
The night isn't only his. Before and after his set, DJ Water handles the sound - a DJ who, according to the organiser, has already played in Romania, Georgia, Bulgaria and Serbia. Doors open at 23:00, so this is a classic club night, not a seated concert.
Tickets are sold on bilet.bg: early-bird tickets were 10 euros, and regular ones are 15 euros, or about 925 denars. Sunny Beach is the biggest resort on the Bulgarian coast, right next to Nessebar.
