On October 14 at 19:00, at the State Drama Theatre in Targovishte, Hilda Kazasyan takes the stage in front of the Pleven Philharmonic with the concert "S obich za Vili Kazasyan" - "With Love for Vili Kazasyan". The title isn't marketing. Vili Kazasyan is her father.

Vili Kazasyan (1934-2008) was a pianist, composer and conductor of Armenian descent, born and died in Sofia. For more than thirty years he led the Bulgarian National Radio Big Band, the orchestra that generations of Bulgarian jazz and pop musicians passed through. Hilda, born in 1970, sat down at the piano at five and graduated from the Lyubomir Pipkov National School of Music as a percussionist. Today she is one of Bulgaria's best-known jazz singers, with seven albums behind her, among them "Cover Girl" and "Homage to Ella Fitzgerald".

She has history with the Pleven Philharmonic. Together they have already toured Bulgarian towns with the show "To Love Gershwin" and the film programme "The World of Cinema in Music", where a jazz singer and a symphony orchestra share the stage without either having to give ground. The organiser hasn't published the detailed programme for Targovishte, so the running order remains a surprise. How often does a symphony orchestra pay tribute to a man who played jazz his whole life?

Tickets on eventim.bg range from 13 to 15 euros, or about 800 to 925 denars. Targovishte is in north-eastern Bulgaria, and for those further away, the same programme visits Sevlievo on October 21.
