Kaliopi at Boris Trajkovski Arena

Kaliopi sings on Saturday, October 17, at 8 pm at Boris Trajkovski Arena, the largest indoor venue in the country. She represented Macedonia at Eurovision twice, with "Crno i belo" in 2012 and "Dona" in 2016, and she has been on stage for more than 40 years.

Marko Škugor's first time in Skopje

At the very same hour, in the hall of the Macedonian Philharmonic, Marko Škugor brings his "Sound of the Mediterranean" concert. The singer from Šibenik started out in a student klapa in Zagreb, and in 2013 he was first tenor of Klapa s mora, the group that represented Croatia at Eurovision with "Mižerja". A Dalmatian ballad in a hall built for a symphony orchestra is a choice that says more about the sound than about the spectacle.

Makhathini and Mirčeska at the Skopje Jazz Festival

The third 8 pm concert is at the National Opera and Ballet, as part of the 45th Skopje Jazz Festival. Nduduzo Makhathini is the first South African signed to Blue Note, with four albums on the label, and his musical language blends the John Coltrane tradition with Zulu folk music. The evening opens with the quintet of Macedonian bassist and vocalist Andrea Mirčeska.

Belgrade's Nastroje, one hour later

For anyone who wants ex-Yu songs instead of jazz, Nastroje go on at 9 pm at Public Room. The Belgrade trio, Teodora, Marko and Stefan, rework songs by Zdravko Čolić, Lepa Brena and Crvena Jabuka, and build every show as an audiovisual performance with set design, lighting and costumes. It is their first time playing Skopje.

27 more concerts in Skopje before the year is out

These four are part of 31 concerts in Skopje through December 31 in the events calendar: 15 in October, 9 in November and 7 in December. The concerts in Sofia, Belgrade and Zagreb are there too, sorted by date and type, each with a link to the ticket seller.
