Sara Carbonero Is Smiling Again After the Hardest Months: Out With the Bad

Spanish journalist Sara Carbonero is smiling again - and that after some of the hardest months of her life. In a photograph from Madrid, in the middle of a 44-degree heatwave, she wrote her followers a short message: "Pa' fuera lo malo" - out with the bad.

Behind that sentence lies a hard year. In January, while on holiday in Lanzarote, Carbonero had emergency surgery. And in April, while she was still recovering, her mother, Goyi Arévalo, passed away. "Life goes on as if nothing happened, but for me it's as if the world stopped. As if they amputated part of my body," she said earlier of the loss.

Now, at 44, Carbonero surrounds herself with the people who matter to her and seeks small moments of joy where she can. She recently received the Gold Medal of Castilla-La Mancha, and she also marked her son Lucas's birthday. Small steps back toward normality seem to be the only way through the grief.

There's something honest in a public figure who doesn't pretend she's fine, but shows that recovery is a slow and uneven process. In a world where every photo on social media is meant to radiate perfection, one quiet "out with the bad" says more than a hundred smiling posts. Grief isn't skipped - you go through it, day by day.
