The twelve manicures being tipped for autumn 2026 have one thing in common that nobody says out loud: nearly all of them are dark or earthy, which means the nail grows out more visibly than with any pale shade. That is not a flaw in the trend - that is the business model.
Brown takes over the season
Chocolate brown is the central colour. It is worn full or with small details and is the shortest description of autumn in a single shade. Alongside it sits the espresso variant, blending tones of dark coffee, chocolate, hazelnut, caramel, cream and vanilla into one warm, rounded effect.
In the same family is cherry mocha - a sophisticated middle ground between chocolate brown and cherry red, carrying warmth and depth. This combination works on both short and long nails, which for most people matters more than what a catalogue says.
The darks that are not black
Intense burgundy shades keep the same role they have held for years - they read as sophisticated and work at any length. Navy is the offer for anyone wanting a dark tone without going to plain black. Olive green works as a neutral with character, elegant enough for both simple and more elaborate designs.
The ones that need a professional
Here is where the price starts climbing. The French manicure is back, but not with the white tip - in its place come warm autumn shades, beige, caramel and chocolate brown. The chrome effect arrives in metallic tones and creates abstract multicoloured designs where each nail is independent of the next.
Animal print shows up as cow - white, brown and black patches, either all over or combined with single-colour nails. The half tortoiseshell pattern (carey) covers the nail partially, leaving the natural nail visible. Blooming nails, the summer design with the blossoming effect, returns with deeper autumn tones - a yellow base with brown accents.
And finally the multicoloured design: every nail in a different autumn shade - burgundy, navy, olive, beige, brown - which still stays elegant because all the colours come from the same family.
Twelve suggestions, and not one of them is a new material, a new technology or something that did not exist before. They are all colours. The question worth asking before you spend: how many of these twelve are genuinely different, and how many are the same brown with twelve names?
