The Bride Who Made Her Own Dress With Her Mother: Silk Organza, Embroidery and One Detail That Connects Two Generations

There are brides who spend months looking for the perfect dress in the shops. And there's one who decided to make it herself - Celia, a designer who sewed the dress for the most important day of her life together with her mother.

Celia and her fiancé Diego met through mutual friends. Even though he had other plans that evening, Diego stayed the moment he saw her. The first official meeting came three months later, and then the pandemic and long phone calls strengthened the relationship. After five years, Diego recreated their first meeting and proposed at the entrance of a church in Madrid - the same one where they would later marry.

Since she runs a fashion brand for wedding guests together with her mother Monica, there was no dilemma for Celia - she would design the dress herself. She decided to wear one dress the whole day, which meant it had to be a piece she truly loved.

The choice fell on silk organza with embroidery that won her over at once. „I wanted it to be timeless and to love it my whole life“, Celia explains. The design included three-quarter sleeves, a boat neckline, asymmetric cuts typical of her style, and a detachable train that can be removed.

The wedding was held at a university in Madrid, with over twenty guests dressed in creations from her brand. The accessories included beige heels, family jewelry and a cascading bouquet of white roses, orchids and lisianthus - the same one her mother wore at her own wedding. A detail that connects two generations in a single moment.

And there were surprises too. The couple danced a tango performed by Diego's father, and Celia's mother organized a secret flash mob to ABBA's „Dancing Queen“. In the end, the most beautiful moments weren't the most carefully planned ones, but those that came as a surprise - which is, perhaps, the loveliest lesson for any wedding.
