French, Italian or Capri Bob: The Short Cut That Rules This Summer and Which of the Three Suits Your Face

Short hair is ruling again, but not as one haircut - as three. French Bob, Italian Bob and Capri Bob are the trends of the summer, and the trick is to know which of them suits your face.

The French Bob is the shortest of the three - it falls somewhere between the jaw and the neck, often with bangs. Stylist Victoria Petrova says it „conveys naturalness and that Parisian spirit that looks undone, even though a very precise design stands behind it“. In other words, it looks casual, but it's no accident.

The Italian Bob has a firmer base and a slightly greater length than the French one. That structure gives volume, shine and movement while keeping elegance. It suits those with thicker hair especially - where the French one would look too light, the Italian has weight.

The Capri Bob is the summer favorite that puts the accent on lightness. It's usually worn to the collarbone level or just above it, with natural texture and a less structured finish. „It's very fresh and easy to adapt to this season, since it works both loose and with very soft waves“, says Petrova.

And which face loves which cut? Round faces benefit from lines that elongate. Oval ones have room for side volume or bangs at the part. Square faces call for softened, more organic lines. And heart-shaped ones - an adjusted length to balance the lower part of the face.

But the shape of the face isn't everything. Petrova stresses that the texture and thickness of the hair, as well as how much time you set aside each day for styling, are equally important. Thin hair likes a more compact base; thick hair calls for a distribution of weight. A well-cut hairstyle should look good with minimal effort - because if it takes you half an hour every morning, it's not the cut for you, no matter how fashionable it is.
