Four people were injured in a crash on the Gostivar – Kicevo highway, and an official vehicle of the Ministry of the Interior was involved in it. The report reached the Kicevo police station at 18:20.
The crash involved a Volkswagen Sharan passenger car with Skopje plates, driven by a 26-year-old from Skopje, and a Ssangyong Rexton owned by the Interior Ministry. The injured are all passengers from the Sharan - two older men aged 67 and 70 and a 44-year-old, all three from the village of Velesta near Struga, along with a 22-year-old from Skopje.
Their injuries were confirmed at the Medical Centre in Kicevo. The scene was examined by a team from the Kicevo police station - the same station whose vehicle was in the crash.
And here is the part the statement does not explain. Who was driving the official Rexton, at what speed, and through whose fault the collision happened - not a word. The geometry of the accident is described. The responsibility is not. When a police vehicle is party to a crash with four injured, the question of who determines fault is not a formality. It is the entire point.
The Gostivar – Kicevo highway is no stranger to reports like this. Narrow, overloaded and used daily by people moving between two towns, it has been turning up in the crime pages for years. The passengers from Velesta fit that profile exactly - people travelling for work, not for adventure.
It remains to be seen whether the investigation will produce a conclusion, or end up where most of them end up: in a drawer, with no answer said out loud.
