The Ohrid police department has filed a criminal complaint against a 42-year-old woman from Ohrid for two offences - "assault on an official performing security duties" and "endangering safety".

According to the police, on 12 August at around one in the morning, in front of the Ohrid police station building itself, the accused physically attacked a female police officer who was carrying out official duties at the time. During the attack she also made threats, after which she was immediately detained. The criminal complaint was filed once the case had been fully documented.

Note the geography of the event. This is not an arrest in the field, nor a street intervention at night. The attack took place in front of the entrance to the police station itself - the spot where the cameras are densest and the officers most numerous.

The police do not disclose what preceded the incident, whether anyone else was present, or why the woman was there at all at one in the morning. "Work on the case is continuing" is the entirety of the additional information.

The complaint is filed, the charges are formulated, the case moves on. Still, when somebody decides to attack a uniformed officer right outside a police station, there is usually a story behind it that a four-sentence statement does not cover. Whether it ever comes out depends on whether anyone asks once the attention has moved on.
