Tribute band Matori play Azra on Friday, 20 November, at 9 pm at Club Boogaloo in Zagreb. A year after the concert they gave there, they are back for what the organisers call a big Azra party.
Branimir Johnny Štulić founded Azra in Zagreb in 1977, and the band fell apart in 1990. It left behind albums such as "Sunčana strana ulice" and the live "Ravno do dna", plus one of the strongest rock and roll catalogues of former Yugoslavia. Štulić has long lived in the Netherlands and barely appears in public, so these days we hear these songs live from other people.
That is exactly the space Matori work in. According to the announcement, the young musicians perform Azra's entire repertoire. The band ended 36 years ago, and the audience will once again sing along with musicians who never had the chance to see the original. Which of today's bands will we be hearing this way 36 years from now?
The ticket is 18 euros, about 1,110 denars, on Entrio, plus a fee.
