A Wedding in Madrid: A Bespoke Gown With Crystals and a Three-Metre Veil, but the Loveliest Detail Was Borrowed

After more than four years together, Spanish television presenter Patricia Cerezo married Kiko Gamez - in a bespoke gown that shows true luxury is often in the detail, not in the number of crystals.

The wedding took place on 10 July at the La Gaviota estate near Madrid, a place where public figures from Spanish life have wed before. The ceremony was civil, followed by a celebration, and among the guests were the bride's daughters, Natalia and Veronica, along with a string of well-known Spanish names.

The gown, made to order by designer Rosa Clara, was of silk satin with clean, refined lines. The key detail was the halter neckline, adorned with crystal appliqués that ran all the way to the nape of the back, with a two-metre train. The bride also wore a veil of silk tulle three metres long.

The loveliest detail wasn't on the gown, but in the tradition: she borrowed the earrings from a friend, honouring the old rule that a bride should wear something new, something borrowed, something blue and something old. In a world where weddings increasingly turn into a contest over who spends more, a quiet gesture like this toward tradition says more than any precious stone.
