Forget the milky-white and soft-pink nails that come back every summer as a mandatory form. Summer 2026 brings an unexpected twist: wine colour - a dark, deep burgundy shade that used to be considered autumnal, and is now becoming the most sophisticated choice for tanned skin.
The logic behind the trend is simple, and it works. Dark shades create a contrast with a bronzed complexion and make it look more intense and brighter. While white polish subtly lifts the skin tone, burgundy does it more dramatically - but without losing any elegance. The effect is as if the skin had caught more sun than it really did.
The trend runs away from cluttered nail art. Instead of drawings and ornaments, it goes for a clean, single-colour manicure on short, slightly rounded nails - a look that pairs easily and works just as well by day as by night. It's worn by Spanish celebrities like Maria Pedraza and Amelia Bono, but precisely because it's simple, this look doesn't need a star to look good.
If burgundy is too much for you, the palette widens: chocolate-brown, dark blue and classic black achieve the same skin-lifting effect. The rule is the same - dark, clean, no complicating. Sometimes the strongest style is exactly the one that doesn't try too hard.
