Courtois's 6-Million Home: A Private Football Pitch, a Go-Kart Track and Initials on the Facade

The Real Madrid goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, has given a look at his home near Madrid - and it's no ordinary villa, but an estate worth around 6 million euros that resembles a private sports centre more than a house to live in.

The residence sits in Las Lomas de Boadilla del Monte, one of the most exclusive neighbourhoods around Madrid, with 24-hour security, greenery and schools within reach. The whole estate stretches over 15,000 square metres, of which the house itself takes up 6,000 square metres across three floors - one cleverly hidden from view - surrounded by a private forest.

The architecture is conceived as bio-architecture, in harmony with nature: natural materials, soft lines and large windows that let the light in. The house has solar panels and geothermal climate control - luxury that, at least on paper, tries to be energy-sustainable too. The design is signed by an architecture studio from Dubai, in a modern minimalist style.

What sets the house apart is a list of amenities any professional athlete would wish for: an indoor and outdoor pool, a private gym, a football pitch of his own, padel and tennis courts, and even a go-kart track. There's also a children's zone, a spacious garage for the collection of luxury cars (Ferrari, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin) and a dedicated trophy room.

The personal stamp is written on the facade itself - giant letters "T" (Thibaut), "M" (Mishel, his wife) and the number "1", the shirt Courtois wears in goal. With Mishel Gerzig, whom he married in June 2023, he has a daughter, Eli, and the goalkeeper has two more children from a previous relationship.

His bond with Spain isn't just professional. "Spain is my second home. I wouldn't say I'm half Spanish, but almost; I have two children with a Spanish passport", Courtois says. With annual earnings of around 15 million euros at Real Madrid, an estate like this is within reach for him - but for the average fan who stays up in front of the screen to watch him make saves, it's a world as distant as the pitch itself.
