Paz Vega at 50: Director of Her Own Film, No Longer a Supporting Role in Someone Else's

Spanish actress Paz Vega, at 50 and recently divorced after 25 years of marriage, gives an interview that sounds less like a confession and more like a declaration of independence. „I decided to take control of my life and be the director of my own film“, she says - a sentence that could easily end up on a coffee mug, but in her case looks backed up by deeds.

Vega doesn't just talk about change - she's making it. She's in pre-production on her second directing project, „Ana no“, which starts shooting on 12 October. At the same time she's taking part in „MasterChef“, an experience she describes as therapeutic and demanding. A woman building a new career at half a century instead of defending the old one - that's a story worth more than any statement about how „life begins at 50“.

„I'm at a point where I look to the future with a lot of excitement, with joy, with will and with light“, the actress adds. It's easy to dismiss such words as celebrity marketing selling optimism. But the difference is that this time there's a concrete schedule behind them - a shooting date, a new film, new work. When words come with a date, they stop being just a nice sentence.
