On July 27, the Summer Stage in Opatija hosts one of the biggest rock legends of the former Yugoslavia - Bajaga i Instruktori return to their favourite venue by the Adriatic. For a crowd that has been singing his songs for decades, an open-air concert in Opatija is an event that bridges the generations.
Bajaga i Instruktori is a Belgrade rock band formed in 1984 by singer, guitarist and songwriter Momčilo Bajagić Bajaga, after he left Riblja Čorba. The debut album „Pozitivna geografija" from that same year was a major success, and songs like „Moji drugovi", „Plavi safir", „Sa druge strane jastuka" and „Tišina" became evergreen hits of the regional rock scene. Across decades of work, the band has released numerous albums and toured the whole region, cementing its status as one of the most influential acts from the former Yugoslav space.
The Opatija concert carries exactly that repertoire - a mix of the classics the audience grew up with and newer material. The Summer Stage in Opatija, looking out over the sea, is a venue Bajaga returns to regularly, and the open-air setting lends the songs a different, more intimate feel than the arena shows.
The concert starts at 9 p.m., and floor tickets are around 31 euros, available through eventim.hr. For regional rock fans in Macedonia, Opatija is one of the closest stops where Bajaga i Instruktori are playing this summer.
