Minors vandalized the „Patrik“ children's playground in Skopje's Aerodrom municipality, causing several thousand euros in damage. The scene was filmed and shared on social media, and the municipality closed the playground for safety reasons.
Mayor Dejan Miteski went to the site and said „this kind of behavior must not go unpunished, because this is deliberate destruction of public property“. The case was reported to the police, and the municipality promised to repair the damage and replace the equipment as soon as possible. He also thanked a local resident, Nikola Popović, who stopped further destruction.
It's easy to reduce the whole thing to „today's youth“. But a playground wrecked for a few thousand euros isn't just the problem of a handful of bored kids with nothing to do one afternoon - it's also a question of where the parents are, what the schools are doing, and why entire neighborhoods offer young people nothing else but boredom.
