Probištip's Machines Go Village to Village: The Road to Jamište Is Being Fixed, Štalkovica Is Next

In the Municipality of Probištip, the machines have hit the village roads. Mayor Toni Tonevski says earthworks are under way on the road to the village of Jamište: leveling the route and spreading gravel over the worst stretches, so the road becomes passable and usable again.

Once the work toward Jamište is done, the construction machinery will move on to the road to the village of Štalkovica, where clearing and leveling are planned. That is the next phase of restoring the road links to both villages.

For people living in villages like these, a passable road is not a luxury. It is the link to a doctor, a shop and a school. That is why the very news that the road will be passable "again" says more than the press release does - for a while, it wasn't. The leveling is welcome. The question is how long it lasts until the next heavy rain, and whether these villages will ever get anything more durable than earthworks.
