Real Madrid in a Fragile State - PSG and City Sharpen Their Claws for Valverde

PSG and Manchester City are already sharpening their claws. According to AS, both clubs are watching every crack in the Real Madrid dressing room - and the cracks are being looked for right around Federico Valverde.

The Uruguayan midfielder, until recently considered untouchable, has ended up at the centre of a publicly aired row with Aurélien Tchouameni. The Valdebebas dressing room is not the calmest place - and that is exactly what hungry clubs at the top of Europe smell.

At least one long-time admirer of Valverde has already reached out to his camp, just to check how serious the situation is. Is this a real chance, or empty stories again like the last few summers? The question is valid. Up to now, even the thought of Valverde leaving the Bernabéu was unreal.

At 27, Valverde has always repeated that he wants to build his legacy in the white shirt. That has not changed even after the Tchouameni incident. For now he is training separately due to an injury, with a forecast of 10 to 14 days of pause. The club reacted internally - a fine of 500,000 euros, no sporting suspension.

But Europe smells it. PSG has a long-standing interest and is ready to move as soon as Real softens. The transfer estimate is around 120 million euros. City on the other side stays quiet, but they still remember - last summer they seriously looked at Valverde and stepped back. If the "untouchable" status falls, they will be straight back in the game.

Still, the calculation has another variable. José Mourinho, coming in as the new coach, will hardly let go of a player tailored to his needs - work rate, intensity, versatility. That is Mourinho from start to finish.

The sensible thing for Madrid is to patch up the dressing room rather than let one of the most complete midfielders in world football walk away. But Real is not always sensible. And that is exactly what PSG and City are counting on.
