Eight months after the first damage, trucks and machinery are finally working on the road to Teferič. The public didn't find this out from the institution, but from a resident who posted a video on social media.
The Transport Ministry confirmed that the works are being carried out by the company Ceacon, chosen in a tender called in July and brought on site on 29 September. The contract is 48.8 million denars for the works and 317,000 denars for supervision. The completion deadline is one year. So the road, closed since February, could be waiting until autumn 2027. Who's going to explain to residents now that this is a quick fix?
Let's recall how we got here. The road was damaged in February, just six months after it was asphalted and renovated. In March came a new, more serious collapse and separation of the ground. Deputy Prime Minister and minister Aleksandar Nikoloski said it was a serious landslide and that the Municipality of Kisela Voda and the City of Skopje have neither the means nor the capacity to deal with it, so the Ministry took over the project.
A landslide is nature, but new asphalt is someone's decision. The Municipality of Kisela Voda has so far not published the details of the last repair in 2025 and has not answered journalists' questions about which company did the repair, when the tender was published and who supervised it. Taxpayers will now pay almost 49 million denars to fix something they've already paid for once. Before the new layer is poured, it wouldn't hurt to know who signed off the old one.
