André Rieu, the king of the waltz, is coming back to Zagreb. On Friday, November 20, 2026, at Arena Zagreb, the Dutch violinist and conductor takes the stage with his Johann Strauss Orchestra, bringing one of the biggest spectacles of classical-popular music to the Croatian capital, starting at 19:30.
Rieu is a phenomenon with no real parallel. With over 40 million records sold, he managed to drag classical music out of the closed circle of concert halls and turn it into a mass spectacle that fills arenas across the globe. His concerts are a lavish production - dozens of musicians, opulent costumes, sopranos and tenors, humor and direct contact with the audience, with Strauss waltzes at the center. It is a format that pulls in classical lovers and people who would never otherwise set foot at such a concert in equal measure.
The Stradivarius in his hands and the orchestra that carries the name of the waltz king are the trademark of a show built on the meeting of virtuosity and spectacle. Rieu has said more than once that Croatia holds a special place for him, and the warmth of the crowd is one of the reasons he keeps coming back to the region.
Arena Zagreb, with its capacity, is a frame worthy of a spectacle of this rank. Tickets are available through eventim.hr, with prices starting around 50 euros. For fans of lavish musical evenings, November 20 in Zagreb offers one of the biggest events of the season.
