Damir Urban and his band &4 perform on Saturday, 21 November, at 8:30 pm at the Arsenal in Zadar, this time reinforced by a string quartet.
Urban was born in Rijeka in 1968. In 1986 he became the singer and songwriter of Laufer, the band that shaped the Croatian rock scene in the early 90s, and the 1993 album "The Best Off" produced the hit of the year. After Laufer split in 1996 over a copyright dispute, he formed Urban & 4. Critics named their 1998 album "Žena dijete" the best album of the year, and the concert album with the Zagreb Philharmonic, recorded at Lisinski, won three Porin awards.
Strings are nothing new to him: he has already recorded his songs once with a full philharmonic. In Zadar the quartet will dress "Budi moja voda", "Astronaut", "Mala truba", "Mjesto za mene" and "Iskra" in new arrangements. A rock singer who reworks the same songs every few years instead of playing them on autopilot. How many like that does the region have?
Tickets start at 27 euros, about 1,660 denars, fees included, on eventim.hr. The Arsenal doors open at 7:30 pm.
