Chelsea Want £120 Million for Enzo Fernandez - Real Waits, City Looks Elsewhere

Chelsea have set an asking price of £120 million (around 140 million euros) for Enzo Fernandez, should the Argentine midfielder decide to leave Stamford Bridge this summer. The information is reported by the Daily Mail, and the figure is above the club's record fee for a player sale.

Fernandez is 25 and has been at the club since January 2023, when Chelsea brought him in from Benfica for £106.8 million - a European record fee at the time. Negotiations on a contract extension are at an impasse, and the player himself has previously expressed publicly his wish to move to Real Madrid, which earned him a two-match suspension.

The interest is now real, but not unanimous. Real have the money, but not the confirmed intent to pay over £120 million for a midfielder at the end of a season without European qualification in London. Manchester City are also mentioned among the interested clubs, though reports say Guardiola is looking at Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest as a priority.

Fernandez's agent, Javier Pastore, says he will "explore other options this summer if the talks do not move forward". Translation: we are waiting for an offer. Chelsea, in the meantime, are trying to figure out how to keep the captain without losing money - and without losing him a year before the contract ends.
