David Ellefson plays the Hard Place club in Zagreb on December 19, 2026, starting at 8 pm. The founder of Megadeth is coming to a room of club capacity, which for a bassist with ten Grammy nominations on his CV is not the usual set-up.
David Warren Ellefson was born on November 12, 1964 in Jackson, Minnesota, on a farm in the rural part of the state. He co-founded Megadeth with Dave Mustaine in 1983 and stayed in the band until the break-up in 2002, and then through the whole reunion from 2004 onward. Apart from Mustaine, who is guitarist, singer and chief lyricist, Ellefson was the only constant member of Megadeth from the band's early phase to its dissolution.
His bass lines on the albums „Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?” and „Rust in Peace” are part of the standard literature for the genre, and those records are precisely what defined the difference between thrash metal where the bass is a bed and thrash metal where the bass is an instrument. With Megadeth he collected ten Grammy nominations, gold and platinum records and three decades of touring. He has also performed in Temple of Brutality, F5, Killing Machine and Metal Allegiance, and is currently the bassist of Metal Church.
Hard Place is a Zagreb club that regularly brings in names from this generation of the metal scene. Tickets are 30 euros, roughly 1,848 denars, plus a booking fee, sold through entrio.hr.
