He Smashed His Uncle's Door, Then Attacked His Sister: 31-Year-Old Skopje Man Arrested in Gazi Baba

Headlines like to call stories like this "family dramas". Strip away the decoration and this is what is left: on October 9, at around 11 a.m., officers from the Skopje Interior Affairs Department arrested 31-year-old R.P. from Skopje in the Gazi Baba area.

According to the report, he came to his uncle's house, violently smashed the front door, went inside and started breaking the furniture. When his sister arrived, he physically attacked her too. The Interior Ministry says charges will follow once the case is fully documented. The reason for the violence has not been disclosed, nor whether the sister was injured.

On October 9, at 9:50 p.m., 38-year-old M.Z. from Tetovo came to the Tetovo Interior Affairs Department. She stated that while visiting her mother in the village of Brvenica, after a verbal argument, she was attacked by her own sister, N.N. Police are taking steps to clear up and document the case.

In both cases the blow comes from one of the closest people, in a home where a person ought to feel safest. The reports do reach the police. How many of them also reach a judge - and how many are withdrawn before that, in the name of family peace?
