Dončić makes NBA history, and the EuroLeague fines Crvena Zvezda 115,000 euros

Dončić did something nobody in the NBA had ever done

45 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals and 8 threes from 12 attempts. With that performance Luka Dončić became the first player in NBA history with at least 45 points, 15 rebounds, five assists, five steals and five threes in a single game, as the Lakers beat the Raptors 131:125. Over his last four games the Slovenian is averaging 43.8 points. A few days earlier, former champion Channing Frye said you don't win a title with his style. Dončić didn't mention him by name: "People are going to say what they want to say, but I know, and my team knows, that I'm better this year." He also admitted he's not the best defender in the league, but insists he's taken a step forward - and five steals answer better than any press conference.

The eternal derby costs the Belgrade clubs 164,000 euros

Partizan won the seventh-round derby 85:82 after overtime, with Alessandro Pajola's three in the closing stages, but the real result was announced by the EuroLeague disciplinary committee. Crvena Zvezda were fined 115,000 euros and their fans banned from following the team at the next five EuroLeague away games, while Partizan pay 49,000 euros. The list of offences is long: pyrotechnics, abusive behaviour, lasers, objects thrown onto the court, a pitch invasion and insufficient security. Zvezda are 6-3, while Partizan lost to ASVEL and Žalgiris after the derby and at 4-5 sit outside the top ten. Who ends up paying for a few lasers - the club, or the fan who'll be watching from home?

Maccabi at 2-7, and the manager backs the coach

Maccabi Tel Aviv are 17th in the EuroLeague with two wins and seven defeats, the latest 94:99 at home to Paris. On Sunday came an 87:105 loss in the city derby against Hapoel, in which Vasilije Micić scored 31 points for the winners. General manager Claudio Coldebella still isn't looking for a scapegoat on the bench: "Oded is our coach. Firing him is not something real." He took the responsibility on himself and announced reinforcement in the backcourt. Public backing for Oded Kattash after a 2-7 start like this sounds either like great trust - or like a verdict that has only been postponed.

Rabotnički are five from five, Rikić is round MVP

Rabotnički won away at Skopje 89:79 and, with five wins from five games, top the Super League. The main man was centre Robert Rikić: 29 points, 8/10 from two, 10/13 from the line, eight rebounds and an efficiency of 31 in just under 28 minutes, making him the fifth round's most valuable player. The ideal five also includes Tederick Wolf, who led Tikveš's comeback against TFT with 24 points, as well as Štip's two veterans, Dimčevski with 20 points and five threes and Karakolev with 19 points and 8/8 from two. When your centre misses two two-pointers all night, the opponent doesn't have many options.

Badel 1862 win the battle of the unbeaten

In the women's First League the two unbeaten teams met, and Badel 1862 beat Basket Kam from Makedonska Kamenica 84:80. Cleary played all 40 minutes and finished with 36 points and 14 rebounds, for an efficiency of 44, the best of the round. The visitors effectively played with one five, and Miteva with 28 and Maksimovska with 24 points kept them in it to the end. Badel 1862 are now 3-0 at the top, ahead of Vardar at 2-0. In the same round Marissa Lee of Kriva Palanka posted 28 points and 26 rebounds in Gevgelija - a stat line that would be news in any league.
