End of an Etihad Era: Guardiola Leaves Manchester City After 10 Years and 20 Trophies

Ten years. Six Premier League titles. The first Champions League for Manchester City in their history. And now - the end. According to the Daily Mail, Pep Guardiola will step down from the bench after Sunday's final match against Aston Villa, with the official announcement expected before the open-top bus parade on Monday.

The 55-year-old Spaniard leaves the Etihad as the most successful manager in the club's history - 20 major trophies, four consecutive Premier League titles, and a completely new standard for ball possession in English football. City has already briefed several commercial partners that a "historic announcement" is on the way.

Guardiola had another year on his contract, but speculation about his departure has been running for months. The Spanish tactician has consistently brushed the questions aside with no answer - and now it looks as if he himself has decided the right moment to step away. There is a chance he stays within the wider City Football Group structure, but Sunday's bench against Aston Villa will most likely be his last.

The season isn't over, though. City are still fighting for the title with Arsenal, first playing Bournemouth on Tuesday and then the emotional match against Villa. In the meantime, the conversation has already moved on to who City will appoint - and two names are emerging: Enzo Maresca and Vincent Kompany, with Maresca as the favourite.

The Italian knows City's inner workings from his time as Guardiola's assistant. After winning the Europa League with Chelsea last season, he's turned into one of the most sought-after names in Europe. His positional approach inherits Guardiola's core principles but carries a calmer pragmatism - exactly what this City needs for the next phase.

The question everyone is asking is whether anyone can really replace Guardiola. Ten years of one era, and one without precedent in English football. Balkan City fans, and there are many from Skopje to Belgrade, will remember this Sunday for a long time.
