Aries

Aries will today be in a situation where somebody asks them to wait another week, and they will agree without a single question as to why. They will be surprised how easily it came out. The first of September carries enough of other people's beginnings that you can look for your own on the same day.

Taurus

Taurus will today hear that something they built over years is being run differently by somebody else, and will not step in. They will watch it from the side for half an hour, feel something tighten in the chest, and carry on. What you left behind does not stop being yours because it now runs without you.

Gemini

Gemini will today turn the phone face down on the table and keep it that way until the end of the conversation. Not once will they flip it over. Around midday they will notice they remember an entire evening for the first time this year.

Cancer

Cancer will today be the one taking a child or grandchild to the school gate, and will stay longer than necessary. Nobody will ask why they are waiting there. Some days are remembered by the one watching from outside, not by the one walking in.

Leo

Leo will today be in a room where everyone is waiting for them to open the conversation, and will wait one more minute. They will do it deliberately. Somebody else will start, and the second half of that sentence will be better than what Leo had ready.

Virgo

Virgo will today buy something for September - notebooks, a planner, a new calendar - and will fill it in that same evening up to mid-November. That brings them a calm no holiday managed to bring all summer. It does not have to make sense to you for it to work for them.

Libra

Libra will today be asked to judge between two people they both know, and will refuse. Not diplomatically - directly, in three words. The afternoon will be the calmest one since August began.

Scorpio

Scorpio will today go back to the message they wrote last night and did not send, read it once more and delete it. Not one sentence in it will be missed by anyone. The best things you have said are the ones you held back at exactly the right time.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius will today start something new on the first of September, as last year, as the year before. The difference is that this time they will tell nobody until the end of the month. A quiet beginning lasts longer than an announced one.

Capricorn

Capricorn will today laugh in the middle of a work conversation at something entirely unrelated and will ruin the tone of the meeting. They will try to get back into a serious pose and will fail. Sometimes the only thing that ruins the right thing is a good one.

Aquarius

Aquarius will today agree to go somewhere they already know will bore them. They will go because somebody asked, not because it makes sense. By eight in the evening they will have one scene from there that they will remember for a week.

Pisces

Pisces will today sit down to sort out something dull - a drawer, a folder, July's bills - and will finish it in forty minutes. No music, no break, no internal negotiation about it. The job that looked like a wall for weeks was knee-high.
